Mike, W6YQ, licensed 1953, first as W5ZVU until the 1970s, and then as W6YQ*. Station: at 4,000 feet/1219 meters in the Black Hills of South Dakota; main antenna, a 287-foot/88m horizontal loop extending over a large canyon. Primary transceiver TS-590; secondary transceiver TS-2000, with HL-450B amp and MFJ-993B transmatch. A 360-foot/110m Beverage switches between the transceivers, and the main VHF/UHF antenna is a J-pole. W6YQ prefers LotW. ARRL DXCC: 346 mixed, 318 CW; CQDX: 320 CW. Mike is an author and a philosophy prof at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD.
